Part of Billy Wilder: Ready for His Close-Up
To celebrate the Heights’ switch to Coca-Cola, we present you Billy Wilder’s paean to the world’s most popular soft drink, and yet another collision between insane capitalism and dour communism. Mac MacNamara (James Cagney) is a disgraced Coke exec assigned to West Germany. Eager for a promotion, he agrees to watch over his boss’ wild daughter, who is secretly engaged to an East German beatnik commie, and nothing goes right. Wilder’s manic comedy moves at a lightning pace and, though a flop in its day, is now regarded as one of his great comic masterpieces.
In Cold War-era West Berlin, American Coca-Cola executive C.R. 'Mac' MacNamara is tasked with playing babysitter to his boss' spoiled 17-year-old daughter Scarlett, who proves more difficult than anticipated when she reveals that she is pregnant by a Communist.
