Celebrate 100 Years of Movies at the Heights Theater!
A limited amount of series passes will be sold for $85 and will allow entry into any of the screenings in the series
Opened in 1926 and screening movies continuously for a century, The Heights Theater celebrates its 100th birthday with a week of classic films. Launched in the silent era, the Heights transitioned to sound, emerged into the Technicolor glory of the 1950s, and endured challenging times as a discount theater in the late 90s, falling somewhat into disrepair. When former owner Tom Letness purchased it in 1998, he brought a renewed sense of purpose, restored it to its original glory, installed the Wurlitzer organ, and made the Heights Theater truly the Jewel of the Twin Cities.
The Heights Centennial Celebration reflects the theater's greatest achievements on the silver screen, one film from each decade of its existence, from a silent classic to dark noir to gorgeous Technicolor, projected in 35 and 70mm from our pristine Norelco AA2 projectors, or 4K restorations on our new Christie Laser Projector. Each film in our series has a special place in our history, and will be introduced by local critics, historians, or the many of the folks who have made the Heights so special. And every one will be preceded by music from the Heights' Mighty Wurlitzer!
