Toasting their late friend at a distillery on New Year’s Eve, three former bandmates stumble into a top-shelf tasting where wishes are required for every bottle. But when their dreams become nightmares, they discover that every pour has its price.
Inspired by tales of b-movie maverick Roger Corman filming features like Little Shop of Horrors and The Terror in less than a week, director Chris LaMartina (creator of the WNUF Halloween Special) celebrated his 40th birthday by shooting the feature in just four days of principal photography on a total budget of $40K.
Featuring cameos from Grady Hendrix, Henry Zebrowski, Peaches Christ, and Clay McLeod Chapman, Spirit Tasting is a sobering post-punk riff on the seminal horror story The Monkey’s Paw that explores “what ifs” of the past and aspirations for the future—with ghastly and gory consequences.
